Rohu is one of the most tastiest food and widely eaten in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan. It tastes double if fried Potatoes are mixed into it and imagine if it is prepared in Mustard Gravy.

If we talk about Potato, it became an essential part of Indian dishes and are very rich source of Carbohydrates.

Ingredients to make Rohu Fish and Fried Potato in Mustard Gravy:


  1. 3 Chopped Potatoes
  2. Rohu 1/2KG
  3. Mustard Seed: 3 tsp
  4. Garlic paste: 50g
  5. Ginger Paste: 50g
  6. Mustard Oil: as required
  7. Coriander Powder: 2 tsp
  8. Salt: as required
  9. Chopped Tomato: 1
  10. Chopped Onion: 1
  11. Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp
  12. Chopped Green Chilly 2
  13. Red Chilly 1/2 tsp
  14. Water
  15. Coriander Leaves

Process to make Rohu Fish and Fried Potato in Mustard Gravy



Step 1: 

Take off the potato peels and take a similar cut. Deep fry the potatoes in mustard oil and remove it from the pan.


Step 2:

Marinate the fish with garlic and turmeric paste. Fry the chopped and marinated fish in mustard oil until it turns in golden color, Remove it from the oil.

Step 3:

Put 10-20 whole mustard seed in the remaining oil, then add chopped onion, fry it for 5 minutes over low flame, add powdered mustard into it and fry it until it turns brown over medium flame. Now add the chopped tomato, Green chilly, Ginger and Garlic paste. After 5 minutes, add Turmeric powder, Coriander powder, Red Chilly powder and Salt. Put some water to avoid burning the paste.

Step 4:

Now pour water into the pan along with the fried fish and potatoes. Simmer it for next 4 to 5 minutes over the medium flame.

Step 5:

Pour the dish into Serving bowl, put coriander leave over the dish and serve it with rice.
